Amazing Rock Worms

Discovered By David W. Nelson on 1/29/07 in Asheville, North Carolina 28801

I describe it as a natural occurring Solar and ice powered tumbling Rock. Although I can't be certain, I believe the rock is able to motor its way around by using the sun to heat the rock, melting a narrow hole in the 1 inch deep snow, exposing the rock from under the snow. The rock melts just enough snow into water and it starts to collect under the rock but quickly freezing into ice, micro pushing the rock over and over in a tumbling manner. A continous cycle of heating the rock, thawing snow, and freezing the water being the means for powering the rock against gravity and friction. In essence, wheeling the rock upwards from the bottom of the snow covering, blazing a trail over the snow, in a worm like pattern. The longest distances traveled in the pictures below all took place in just a few hours of time. Another amazing thing is, it made little difference as to the direction of the sun in reference to direction the traveling rock.
